AV TECHNICIAN - SERVICE

Department: Production
Location: Kalispell, MT
Compensation: $30–48/hr

Job Summary

The Technician installs residential or commercial automation systems, including AV, home theater, climate control, lighting, motorized shades/blinds, network and voice AI. Junior Technicians, in conjunction with Senior Techs and Project Managers, ensure that products are correctly installed and best practices are followed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with colleagues, contractors and clients to ensure procedures are followed, correct materials are available, project timelines are adhered to, and clients are satisfied.
  • Successfully execute AV install projects from rough-in phase through the finish phase including preparing the project space, running and terminating cabling, setting up local area networks, installing devices, hanging TVs, installing speakers, hanging shades, etc.
  • Participate in the on-call program.
  • Follow safety practices and procedures, including job site maintenance and cleanliness procedures.
  • Accurately document work and report back to managers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documentation.
  • Maintain a standard of appearance and behavior that reflects SAV Eyehear’s high level of professionalism.

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years in AV or Security industries.
  • Clean driving record.

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Familiar with Crestron, Savant, Control4, and RTI.
  • Familiar with Lutron and Vantage lighting systems.
  • Solid understanding of networks.
  • Training, education or hands-on experience in the construction, electrical or AV industries.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, construction plan sets and architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of structural basics, including drilling studs, beams, etc., and basic installation techniques including opening sizes and device/component placement.
  • Familiarity with basic wire dress, including final trim lengths and labeling.
  • Familiarity with outside service provider drops including Telco, DSS, ISP, etc.
  • Understanding of low-voltage and signal flow and wired and wireless networks.
