Technology Security Advisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Technology Security Advisor is a client-facing, security-focused sales role responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with clients and industry partners. This role leverages deep technical knowledge of the security industry to guide clients, architects, designers, and builders toward technology solutions that perfectly match their security needs. The Technology Security Advisor has no direct reports and is accountable for achieving defined sales goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend sales calls and meetings with clients, architects, designers, and builders to identify security needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Document client expectations through notes, pictures, marked-up plans, and other means to accurately capture project scope.
  • Develop clearly defined scopes of work per client specifications, including system designs, documentation, proposals, and budgets.
  • Achieve and exceed defined sales goals on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Maintain and grow a strong pipeline of security opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship development.
  • Timely communicate with clients and both external and internal partners throughout the sales process.
  • Liaise with the Design Team to create accurate project deliverables, including estimates; submit RFPs and RFIs in a timely manner.
  • Incorporate the Design Team into client and project meetings as needed, and keep them informed of due date and system changes.
  • Maintain CRM data including bids submitted, contracts closed, project status, and relevant dates; verify data for sales projections.
  • Coordinate with the Production Team to ensure documents for approved projects are fully prepared and shared; attend project kick-off meetings and relay project overview.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Production for questions regarding security scopes of work; attend site meetings as needed.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Stay current on emerging security technologies, products, and industry trends to maintain a competitive knowledge advantage.
  • Support the Security Department Manager and broader team with operational initiatives as needed.
  • Represent SAV Digital Environments at industry events, trade shows, and partner meetings to build brand awareness and referral relationships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Deep technical knowledge of the security industry, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV/IP cameras), intrusion detection, and related systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via email, phone, or text to varied audiences including clients, architects, designers, and builders.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and develop accurate scopes of work, proposals, and system designs for security projects.
  • Strong sales acumen with the ability to identify client needs, build trust, and close opportunities.
  • Ability to be well organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated to meet deadlines and manage a sales pipeline independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electronic schematics, and user manuals.
  • Knowledge of the construction and design/build industry, including contract structures (time and materials, fixed fee, cost plus, etc.), trade coordination, and project management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, assess multiple demands, multi-task, and manage priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with fellow employees of all departments.
  • Language requirements are reading, writing, and spelling in English with an ability to perform well under stressful conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 1+ years of experience in the audio-visual or security field in a technician or field role.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of residential and/or commercial security systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Employee must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • 3+ years of experience in residential and/or commercial security systems sales and design.
  • College degree preferred, or coursework in electronics, project management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CRM and/or Project Management Software (Wrike, or similar).
  • Knowledge of systems integration including security, CCTV, access control, audio/video, and computer networks.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., ESA/NTS, ASIS, PSP, or manufacturer-specific certifications) preferred.
